Transport inside Tallinn

Taxi

The most convenient way to travel from the airport to the university is a taxi where normal fare is approximately 20 EUR. There is no need to neither ask for a price nor argue with the driver before entering a taxi. The rates for taxi services vary depending upon a company, i.e., there is no uniform pricelist for all taxis. Do note that all taxis are required to have a valid price list inside as well as and outside on the right rear window screen. Be sure to check the prices before boarding the taxi! At the end of your trip, ask the taxi driver for a receipt from the meter’s printer. If the meter or printer is out of order, the driver should not be in service and you have the right to refuse to pay the fare. In order to avoid misunderstandings, be sure that the approximate cost of the trip to your destination is clear in advance. Also, make sure that the meter is switched on. You are free to choose any of the available taxis at a taxi stand. Taxis can be also ordered by phone or hailed on the street. For more information please refer to Tallinn Tourism page.

Public Transport

Public transport of Tallinn consists of buses, trolleys and trams, which operate regularly from approx 06-23. Information about ticket prices is available on the City of Tallinn webpage. Please make sure you either have a valid ticket before getting on public transport or that you buy one from the driver immediately upon entering. If you need to buy a ticket, enter at the front door; tickets are only sold at stops, not while the vehicle is moving. Note that tickets bought from the driver are more expensive than those bought at a newsstand. Bus no. 2 connects the airport, city center, bus terminal and passenger port.
